A central theme for Jack is his desire to make his name mean something. He is “addicted to the craft” of his own invention, constantly working to build a legend that will outlive him.

He has a deep, complex, and loyal partnership with Anne Bonny. While she provides the physical protection he lacks, he provides the vision and ambition they both need to navigate Nassau’s dangerous politics.
