Anne Bonny, one of the most famous female pirates in history, active during the “Golden Age of Piracy” in the early 18th century. While historical records are often blended with legend. Born in Ireland as the illegitimate daughter of a lawyer, she eventually moved to the Bahamas. She became a central figure in the pirate circles of Nassau, eventually leaving her husband to join forces with the pirate Calico Jack Rackham. She was known for her fierce temper and for dressing as a man to fight alongside the crew, though many accounts suggest the crew knew her true identity.
